Hello world! (And a warm welcome to those who may be visiting.) My name is Pamela Harrington, and I’m a blogger, experimenter of recipes, and an author/ illustrator of children’s books and young adult fiction.
I am also the mother of a good amount of children which gives me plenty of opportunities to be ‘creative’ in writing and in daily survival.
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but did you know that she had twins?
I feel that creativity is invention’s twin sister, only that she possesses a lot more flare.
I know that for me, life likes to keep things interesting. Whether it is my computer crashing before saving a manuscript, trying to get my two sensory sensitive kids to try something new (because you know, that piece of lettuce is nastiness incarnate), or trying to find ways to keep kids entertained during the hot Arizona summers, you need to be creative in order to survive.
A few things about me, writing and having a creative outlet keeps me from sinking into depression.
As for cooking, honestly, I hate it.
Actually, let me rephrase it, I am burned out on the whole cooking thing.
Once upon a time (I will not say a long time ago since I’m trying to keep the, ‘I’m still young’ mentality), when I got to cook food just for myself, I loved to cook.
It was actually fun.
However, as the years went by and the dinner dishes began to multiply with each additional child, as well as the looks of disgust on the child’s face when my carefully prepared culinary masterpieces were laid before them, my desire to cook wilted, shriveled up, and turned into dust that blew away in the air.
However, recently the ‘at least the kids will eat it’ menu has been taking its toll on me and my family.
I’ve missed the good food that I used to eat, and I have realized that my kids need to start eating food that at one point came from an organic source.
So now I am experimenting with new recipes to help my kids eat healthier while giving me a chance to rediscover my long lost love of cooking.
I would like to share with you the different aspects of my crazy but wonderful journey as I try to find a balance between caring for my family, while still trying to maintain my sanity.
